OVERVIEW
The iconic Kipling brand needs no introduction so we were thrilled when they came to Prime Studio to design two new luggage collections - including their first ever Hard Shell luggage.
Kipling are known for their crinkled nylon bags (and, of course, that monkey) but we worked with their VP of Global Design, Danielle Wolfe, to help bring her vision for how the brand should evolve to life.
Rethinking how we travel
For the Kipling Curiosity range the aim was all about the simplicity of design - no grooves or harsh form lines but just a clean silhouette that had a softness that related to Kiplings original nylon bags. Of course there’s a fine line between simple and boring so fashion colors and prominent Kipling branding bring the line to life.
When we designed the Kipling Indulge luggage the task was how to interpret Kipling’s new tag line of Live.Light. Our solution was a multiple function case for the way people travel today. It’s a stylish soft case which includes a detachable day pack - so you only need to take one piece of luggage with you for shorter trips. We think that is Living Light.
