Crock-Pot Kitchen Tools ( + )
Product + Packaging
When Robinson Home Products approached us with the idea of developing a line of kitchen tools specifically for slow-cookers, we knew we would have to dig deep to discover the attributes that would make using these specialized tools better than just an everyday kitchen tool.
We embarked on our discovery phase – talking with food scientists from Crock-Pot, observing users, and spending many afternoons cooking up ribs and casseroles in our Studio (yum). We discovered a big area of opportunity for the Crock-Pot brand.

We developed and tested special, unique features for the tools. For example, the Crock-Slotted Turner has raised back walls to aid in transferring browned meat from a saute pan to the Crock-Pot and special draining slots to leave the fat behind. Our Crock-Tongs have an especially wide head with internal teeth to both cradle and grip a tender pot roast when removing it from the slow-cooker. The Crock-Spoon has a unique steep angled handle and flat bottom to enable the user to scoop along the bottom of the slow-cooker to get every last bite.

In addition to designing the actual products, Prime Studio also designed the packaging with a premium aesthetic suitable for gift-giving (many Crock-Pots are received as wedding gifts). In order to communicate the features of the tools quickly and effectively at retail, we developed an icon system that indicates the specific benefits of each tool. Each package also features an individualized recipe that the tool would be ideal for.
